Partnerships Manager – Langa (Cape Town)

The Partnerships Manager will lead and grow our partnerships across brand collaborations,
commercial deals and funder relationship in service of the organisation’s mission. This role sits at the
intersection of music, business and social impact, connecting with the Bridges for Music global
community of festivals, artists and leading stakeholders, and plays a central part in advancing the
organisation’s reach, revenue and long-term sustainability.

The successful candidate will be a dynamic, tenacious individual with a successful track record of
building strategic relations and driven to make a meaningful impact in South African society.

Responsibilities :

Partner & Funder Identification & Development

  • Research, identify and flag potential new corporate, brand and funder prospects to feed the pipeline
  • Pitch and secure new commercial partnerships and brand collaborations
  • Onboard new partners such as artists, festivals, corporate companies, brands and/or foundations
  • Build and manage a pipeline of relevant opportunities, measured by new funding, in-kind support or commercial
    partnership value landed
  • Support the CEO and executive team with fundraising efforts, including proposal writing and funder database development

Partner & Funder Engagement

  • Share the impact of partners’ and donors’ support and create PR opportunities, so they feel part of the
    impact journey
  • Send follow-up reminders and maintain regular contact with funders to support the CEO in meeting proposal and reporting deadlines
  • Keep partner and funder records up to date on the
    CRM to easily track relationship history and next steps
  • Prepare regular partner and funder updates,
    such as newsletters or short impact summaries, to keep stakeholders informed

Partner & Funder Retention

  • Manage and grow relationships with current partners, ensuring all core partners renew and grow their
    investment year on year
  • Monitor dates to flag partners due for renewal conversations
  • Check in regularly with existing partners to identify renewal risks early and address concerns proactively

Events & Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Coordinate and support the fundraising and partnership events calendar
  • Work closely with the Marketing Manager to align partnership and fundraising activity

Requirements :

Qualifications & Experience

  • B Degree in Social Sciences or Art
  • At least 5 years’ experience of identifying and developing impactful commercial partnerships, donor relations or business development opportunities
  • Successful track record of development of compelling proposals and reports.
  • Previous experience gained in the non-profit, education or arts & culture sector

Qualities & competencies

  • Previous experience gained in the non-profit, education or arts & culture sector
  • High command of spoken and written English and isiXhosa (ideal)
  • Intermediate to advanced user of Google and CRM tools, e.g. Salesforce
  • Proven ability to use impact data to tell compelling stories
  • Highly confident engaging with partners and stakeholders at all levels
  • Outstanding organisational skills and ability to juggle many priorities
  • Excellent Project Management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of the music or creative industries would be advantageous
